We take a closer look at the filehoster Uptobox and test it with several multihosters. We uploaded a 100 MB test file to Uptobox and downloaded it with the free account and the multihosters. We have a 50 Mbit connection and use the Google Chrome browser. We don't use a VPN or similar, so as not to falsify the results. Of course, it can happen that we rate a provider too good or too bad, as we only do random samples. If you have other experiences with UPtobox or the multihosters, please write them in the comments.

Before we could start downloading, we first had to wait 30 seconds and watch annoying advertisements. 3 clicks and 3 pop-up ads later, the download with the free account could finally begin.  The speed varied between 150 and 250 kilobytes per second and is not bad compared to other file hosts. The free account is therefore sufficient to download an audio book or an e-book. It takes about 8 minutes to download a 100 MB file.

We tested Uptobox again with the multihoster Linkifier and were able to reach the maximum speed of our internet line today. The download started immediately and the file was downloaded within a few seconds. We achieved an average download speed of 7 MB per second.

 

The download started immediately, but maybe we had a bad day. The download speed was very slow and we could only download from UptoBox at 120 kilobytes per second. For this, an account with the multihoster is not worthwhile and it is better to save the money. Of course, you have the advantage of no waiting time and no advertising, but the speed is simply too slow. We will repeat the test in a few days to get a meaningful result.
